Home is where the hammock is. Or at least that’s what you’ll think once you try out Hennessy’s most popular hammock – the Expedition Asym Classic. This backpacking hammock is a perfect option for people looking to travel light while still reaping the benefits of bulkier shelter options. The best part is that if you realize you don’t like swaying motion of the hammock, you can always pack some poles and pitch it as a tent!
The Only Backpacking Hammock You’ll Need
The Expedition Asym Classic isn’t the only backpacking hammock on the market, but it’s definitely one of the best. So what makes it so great? First off, it’s large enough to accommodate a person who is up to 6 feet tall and 250 pounds. Thanks to its patented bottom, center entry, you never have to worry about tipping the hammock over just to get in place. And due to its asymmetrical shape, it maximizes the space inside so it feels longer and provides more width around your shoulders and upper body. Unlike other hammocks, the ergonomic design allows you to lie almost perfectly flat. This means zero back pains the next day.
You’ll also have zero bug bites thanks to the no-see-um mesh that protects you from both insects and wind. Add onto that the included rainfly and you’ll be nice and dry regardless of what the weather is outside of your hammock. And while it might work best for three seasons, with some padding and extra insulation, you can absolutely use this in the winter months as well.
One of the benefits of backpacking hammocks is the ability to setup up almost anywhere because you don’t have to worry about uneven grounds or roots. However, not everyone likes hanging between two trees. If you have an issue with motion sickness, a hammock might not be the best option. Luckily, this can also transform into a tent so long as you have poles with you. After a good night’s sleep, you can then transform it into a chair!
